2 startups, 12 months (again)

Well, I totally crushed my first attempt at the 2 Startups, 12 Months challengeโ€”if by “crushed” you mean “spectacularly failed.” ๐Ÿ˜… But hey, failure is just success in disguise, right? A very, very convincing disguise.

So here I am, back at it again, because apparently, I didnโ€™t learn my lesson the first time. This time, Iโ€™m tackling dueltasks.com and summatube. Why work on one startup when you can double your chances of chaos with two?

And because every ambitious journey needs impossible-sounding goals, here are mine:

  • Hit $80K MRR (because passive income is just a couple clicks away, right?)
  • Acquire 80K users (or, you know, eventually… after my mom and her book club join)
  • Get approved on the App Store (because I’m sure Apple loves reviewing apps from sleep-deprived developers)
  • Travel to 8 countries (Zoom backgrounds count, donโ€™t they?)
  • Make 8 YouTube videos (documenting my inevitable descent into startup-induced madness)
# DuelTasks Metrics for 80K MRR

- **MRR:** $80K
- **ARR:** $960K
- **Active Users:** 4K - 8K
- **Churn Rate:** 3-4% (monthly)
- **CLTV:** $240 - $720
- **CAC:** $80 - $240
- **DAU:** 1.2K - 3.2K
- **MAU:** 2.4K - 4.8K
- **Conversion Rate:** 2-5%
- **ARPU:** $10 - $20
- **Growth Rate:** 10-15% (monthly)

Why 8? Cuz 2024 -> 2+2+4=8. And also Rails 8.

This time we’ll reverse the Build flow to avoid the build trap.

So in Iteration 1 we build then market (B->M), but this time we’re going to market then build (M->B).

Let the chaos begin! ๐Ÿ˜…
