3 Weeks in Bali: Nomad Edition

Just wrapped up three chaotic, sandy, slightly sweaty weeks in Bali. Here’s how it went down:

Week 1: Canggu Chaos & Bureaucratic Blunders

Landed in Canggu full of dreams and startup energy. Immediately hit the ground running—applied for Thailand’s new Digital Nomad Visa (DTV)… and promptly got rejected because I didn’t include my middle name. Classic me. Bureaucracy 1, Drew 0.

Settled into a rhythm of gym, coworking, and navigating the soundtrack of noisy Russians and revving scooters. Canggu is like a tropical WeWork that never sleeps (and never shuts up). But the beach sunsets slap, and I got a lot done.

Week 2: Escape to Gili T

After a week of overstimulation, I impulsively booked a fast boat to Gili Trawangan. Spent 3 days detoxing—no cars, just bikes, cats, and saltwater. Sunrise yoga, sea turtles, and lots of nasi goreng. It’s like Canggu’s chill cousin who quit tech and moved to an island.

Felt like a reset. Got sunburned. No regrets.

Week 3: ?? → Singapore

Honestly can’t remember what happened during week 3—might’ve blacked out on coconut water and rice paddies. Probably more coworking, more deep chats with strangers I’ll never see again, and a few realizations about what I don’t want.

Wrapped the trip in Singapore. Clean air, working sidewalks, and my bank account crying a little. Felt good to reset before jumping back into “real life.”
