In October 2024, I joined my partner on a one-week trip to Mexico City (CDMX) while she was there for work. She works at Etsy, and I thought it would be fun to tag along for the adventure.
First, we stayed at Condesa for 2 days, and had tacos 🌮 (mi amor). My fav place was Tacos Don Juan (★★★★★).
There was a long line outside 🤔; the tacos al pastor were pretty good as were the quesabirria (cheese fried beef tacos thing).
Then we moved on to Reforma – which is like the CBD of CDMX. We stayed at Marriott Reforma and got Bonvoy points.1
Anyways back to tacos 🌮; I had more tacos at Tacos La Chula (★★★★☆), which was open 24/7. It was pretty good but not as good as Don Juan 😭.
CDMX was a somewhat affordable place2; my weekly expenses were as follows:
Type | Amount |
Flights (SAT-MEX) | $340 (Volaris, Viva Aerobus inc. $42 CDMX tourist tax) |
Food | $200 (~ $20-40 a day split amongst 7/11 snacks, tacos, and 2 fancy restaurants) |
Museum tickets | $10 |
Accommodation | $200 (for 3 nights in Condesa) |
Total | ~$750 |
In conclusion, CDMX was a great place to visit and there’s lots of yummy food options there. The elevation was quite high 🌁 at 7349′ which makes it ~ the 9th highest capital city in the world.3
